Persistent Prayer

I want to share with you a very powerful, yet often-unappreciated weapon that you have in your arsenal. Honestly, for years I didn’t understand the power of it and questioned whether there was any validity to it. I can now say beyond a shadow of a doubt, that it is my go-to resource for just about everything. I’m still working on making it number one for everything, but I am still a work in progress.

This great weapon and tool that we have is prayer, and it does so many things. First, it connects us to our Heavenly Father. It isn’t just a ritual that we perform when we need something from Him, nor is it something that we should only do in the good times or before meals. It is something that we need to constantly be doing all the time. He wants to talk to us and wants to hear from us. So why do we avoid talking to Him?

Perplexing Peace

I am leaving you with a gift-peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

John 14:27

It hasn’t been an easy decision to determine what I wanted to share this week. I have a lot of things that I am learning and wanting to express, but there has been an overarching theme in everything: Peace. This is why I chose to share that verse from the book of John.

Let’s all be honest, life is crazy, and it’s tough to navigate through it. It’s not always easy. In fact, a lot of the time it’s actually really difficult. It’s not all rainbows and butterflies, and it’s definitely not a Disney movie. It is more like a roller coaster, and we can often feel like a human yo-yo. We’ve all had our fair share of moments where we wonder when there is going to be calm so we can breathe again.

Walking Safely on the Troubled Sea

Today, I want to look at what was described in Matthew 14, right after Jesus feeds the 5,000. If you read verse 21, “The number of those who ate was about five thousand, besides women and children,” you understand they were even greater in number than just 5,000. We often simplify the story by referencing that number, but it was likely an even more mind-blowing number than that!

But the next part of the chapter is what I want you to take a real look at. From verse 22 through verse 33, it’s about Jesus walking on the water. But I don’t want to focus on Jesus walking on the water – I want to focus on Peter walking on the water.

Man cannot live on bread alone

For my first post, I want to share something with you that has been on my heart recently. I’ve been trying to read my Bible a lot more and really getting into the Scriptures. I am not claiming to be a theologian, but as I grow in my relationship with Him, I want to share with you what He’s teaching me, through whatever avenue He chooses to show me.

I have realized as I am growing in my walk, I can’t just talk to God. I really have to read His Word and know His Word. He has given it to us, and it is important that we know it.
